About me

I'm Joelle Harris, I love to create textile art and beautiful clothes.  I share my skills through workshops, talks and parties. I recently completed my First Class Honours Degree in Textiles at Hull School of Art and Design.

Having grown up in the countryside, I have a strong connection to the natural world and a fascination for the craftmanship involved in the constuction of out industrial past.  This inspires me to cultivate high standards of expertise in a variety of textile techniques.

Protecting the natural environment is a major concern and I explore ways to challenge the paradigm of industrial fashion and textile production by producing quality products made from locally available materials.

I live in North Lincolnshire where you will often find me wandering on the banks of the Humber, or rummaging in the charity shops resucing beautiful velvets, silk and linen fabrics.

My mum was always sewing and my Grandma gave me my first sewing machine at the age of seven.  As a teenager I studied embroidery and dressmaking and created clothes for myself. Over the years I have run businesses making childrens' clothes, doing repairs and alterations and creating ball gowns and beautiful bridesmaid dresses.  I was the sewing expert at The Making House in Burton upon Trent.  Running the weekly dressmaking courses as well as the jacket upcycling days and machine embroidery workshops.
